Trump Push blames.

Here are the latest NEWS around the WORLD This Morning, Saturday, November 21, 2020.

Trump blames Pfizer, media, big tech for election loss

President Donald Trump is still day dreaming that he won the November 3 election, despite trailing President-elect Joe Biden in both electoral college and popular votes.

He renewed his claim Friday, his second press briefing since 4 November.

This time around, slipping into reality, he attacked all manners of forces as being responsible for his poll debacle.

He blamed the media. He attacked Pfizer and big Pharma of running negative ads against him.

He blamed Big Tech and ‘dishonesty’.

‘Big pharma ran millions of dollars of negative advertisements against me during the campaign – which I won, by the way, but you know, we’ll find that out. Almost 74 million votes,’ Trump said.

President-elect Joe Biden got nearly 80 million votes – more than Trump.

‘We had big pharma against us. We had the media against us. We had big tech against us. We had dishonesty against us,’ Trump fumed.

Trump accused drug companies of delaying their vaccine results until the elections, without providing evidence.

‘So they waited and waited and waited and they thought they’d come out of it a few days after the election. And it would have probably had an impact. Who knows probably it wouldn’t have,’ he said.

‘Sure the Democrats would have found the ballots someplace,’ he theorized – alluding to his claims of a ‘rigged’ election.

‘These corrupt games will not deter us from doing what is right for the American people,’ Trump said.

Trump appeared to say ‘FISA’ instead of Pfizer, in reference to a secret surveillance court that is a fixation of his in light of the Russia probe.

‘FISA (Pfizer) and others, who are way ahead on vaccines,’ he said.

FIsa and others even decided to not assess the results of their vaccine, in other words not come out with a vaccine until just after the election.’

He claimed it was because of what he had done on drug prices.

He said: ‘I’ve been loyal to the special interests’ in an another apparent flub.

After levelling the charges, Trump refused to take questions, when he finished speaking.

U.S. sets new daily coronavirus record

The United States has logged another record number of new coronavirus cases in a day, as the country is in the grips of the third and biggest wave of the pandemic.

Data released by Johns Hopkins University on Friday showed that 187,833 infections were reported the day before.

The figure exceeds the last daily record by over 10,000.

The U.S. on Thursday logged 2,015 deaths from COVID-19, the disease caused by the virus, according to the university’s tracker, marking the first time since the beginning of May that the number of fatalities surpassed 2,000.

Hospitalisations are also at record highs, straining health care systems.

The U.S. which has a population of around 330 million, has seen far more deaths and cases than any other nation, recording more than 252,500 fatalities and 11.7 million infections since the start of the pandemic.

Multiple states are cracking down with new restrictions to curb the spread of the virus.

California Governor Gavin Newsom announced a month-long curfew, requiring nearly all of the state’s 40 million residents to stay at home between 10 p.m and 5 a.m (0600 and 1300 GMT).

U.S. health authorities have urged Americans to stay home for Thanksgiving next week, a major U.S. holiday which usually sees families gather.

In promising news, U.S. pharmaceutical giant Pfizer and German firm BioNTech said they will apply on Friday to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the emergency use of their COVID-19 vaccine.

U.S. officials hope that some 20 million people could be inoculated by the end of the year.

Donald Trump Jr tests positive for coronavirus

US President Donald Trump's oldest son has tested positive for coronavirus, according to his spokesman.

Donald Trump Jr, 42, was diagnosed at the start of this week and has been quarantining at his cabin since the result, according to the spokesman.

"He's been completely asymptomatic so far and is following all medically recommended Covid-19 guidelines," said the statement.

Don Jr is the second of the president's children to test positive.

Barron Trump, 14, was also diagnosed last month, but made a swift recovery, the president told rally-goers during the election campaign.

Don Jr's partner, Kimberly Guilfoyle, a former Fox News host, tested positive for the disease in July, and also recovered. He apparently did not contract the infection at the time

Pfizer seeks first Covid vaccine approval in US

Pfizer and its partner BioNTech are on Friday filing for emergency authorisation in the US of their Covid-19 vaccine.

It will be the job of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to decide if the vaccine is safe to roll out.

It is not clear how long the FDA will take to study the data. However, the US government expects to approve the vaccine in the first half of December.

Data from an advanced trial showed the vaccine protects 94% of adults over 65.

The UK has pre-ordered 40 million doses and should get 10 million by the end of the year.

The need for a vaccine in the US was highlighted by the number of coronavirus deaths recorded for Thursday. For the first time since June, the figure for deaths in a single day rose above 2,000.

So when could we expect vaccinations?

If FDA authorisation does come in the first half of next month, Pfizer and BioNTech will "be ready to distribute the vaccine candidate within hours", the two companies said.

This would be remarkably quick for vaccine development - within 10 months of detailing the genetic code. The average wait for approval in the US is nearer eight years.
